Glimt struggled to establish play on the hosts' half and played the ball away too easily on several occasions. After an hour, the yellow-clad team had a great chance when Kasper Høgh came free inside the box, but the shot was blocked and went just over. Glimt were lucky not to be behind by more when the match approached an hour. Lazio eventually got their reward, but it was not enough for the hosts.
Historic advancement
Rosenborg played in the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Juventus in the 1996/97 season. Several other Norwegian teams have reached this stage in other European competitions. Glimt did not become historic. In the first semifinal match, Glimt must do without Patrick Berg and Håkon Evjen. Both are suspended for having received too many yellow cards.
Glimt beat Olympiakos in the round of 16. Before that, they beat Dutch team Twente in the first knockout round. Glimt faced top teams like Manchester United and Porto in the group stage. Coaches and players are now ready for the semifinals against Tottenham. Kjetil Knutsen said before the match: – We will play the match, not the occasion.
