What happened?
Bodo/Glimt gave Joshua Kitolano an intense training experience that he describes as a shock. The 28‑year‑old midfielder arrived at Aspmyra in May and was met with a higher tempo and intensity than he has known from the Eredivisie. "It's a level I've never felt before," Kitolano told TV 2. At the same time, the club currently sits second in the Eliteserien with 70 points after 30 games (22W‑4D‑4L) and has scored 85 goals while conceding 28, just one point behind leaders Viking.
Why did Kitolano choose Bodo/Glimt?
Kitolano was first approached in January, but he was out of contract and weighing several offers, including interest from Feyenoord. He explains that Glimt's success in Europe and the Eliteserien made the club attractive: "Even in the Netherlands people talked about the sensation Bodo/Glimt and the level they keep." The decision was made after talks with his brothers, LSK players Eric and John Kitolano. "The more I talked to them, the more the choice fell on Glimt," he says. In the end he felt Bodø was the right place for his development.
How does this affect the team?
Kitolano now competes for the spot usually occupied by captain Patrick Berg, who recently led Norway against France at the World Cup. The new signing adds depth to Glimt's midfield and brings experience from a high level. "Competition is good. I need to get into things and learn as fast as possible," Kitolano adds. With August Mikkelsen currently sidelined, Kitolano's arrival is especially important to maintain the team's offensive power – 85 goals so far this season.
What comes next?
Kitolano looks forward to facing his brothers on the pitch when Bodo/Glimt travel to KFUM Oslo on July 12, 2026. The match is crucial for keeping pressure on Viking in the title race. The coach has also hinted that Kitolano could start in upcoming European qualifying games. For fans, it's now a matter of watching how the new midfielder integrates into Glimt's tactics and whether his intensity can lift the club even higher.
Key statistic: Bodo/Glimt sit one point behind Viking, have 85 goals from 30 matches and will meet KFUM Oslo (12th) in a fixture that could shape the top‑four standings.
